PRIME RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Analyze existing commercial aircraft components in order to reverse engineer them and develop equivalent parts with improved performance and cost savings -
Use inspection equipment such as an optical comparator, coordinate measuring machine (CMM), optical equipment, pin gages, calipers, micrometers, etc. in the analysis and reverse engineering of aircraft parts -
Demonstrated proficiency in design specification definition and interpretation, dimensional tolerance analysis and have an understanding of material properties for the purpose of reverse engineering commercial aircraft components -
Demonstrated proficiency in developing models and drawings of aircraft components and assemblies -
Develop documentation to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulatory process -
Direct and manage material analysis at outside laboratories -
Act as liaison with our manufacturing sources for products designed at Seal Dynamics -
Manage and participate in all aspects of reverse engineering a product, develop FAA certification documentation and manufacturing and product support -
Support Seal Dynamics’ customers with technical and on-site support -
This position may require 5-15% travel to visit airline engineering departments, overhaul facilities and the Federal Aviation Administration offices
EDUCATION / PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Mechanical/Aerospace engineering degree -
Demonstrated proficiency and industry experience in developing drawings and 3D solid modeling (Solidworks experience a plus) -
Hands on manufacturing and machine shop experience and familiarity of various materials processing techniques is a plus -
Demonstrated proficiency in PC based Microsoft Office suite of programs – Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, etc. -
Successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral -
Demonstrated effective decision making and organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment -
Experience with the FAA PMA process a strong benefit

Performs a variety of operations to manufacture and assemble aircraft parts and structures such as consoles, doors, racks, and canopies. Assemblies can require controlled tooling as well as build to print. Tasks include aligning parts on jigs using both templates and fixtures. Performs part-fitting operations such as minor filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, drilling, reaming, riveting, countersinking, and cold working. Works from blueprint diagrams, drawings, specifications, and shop orders.
FABRICATOR/MACHINIST – Req.#164420BR – Rate Range: $14-$16
Performs a variety of operations to manufacture and fabricate sheet metal and extrusion parts. Sets-up and operates one or more of the following varieties of machine tools: shears, brake press, routers, drill press, saws, roll formers, water jets, shapers, NC Punch, Stack routers, punch press, Hydro press, and hand formers. Makes standard shop calculations relating to dimensions of work tooling, feeds and speeds.

Summary:
A Manufacturing Engineer II is a professional with a degree and experience in the manufacturing of parts and assemblies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform assigned tests on materials and parts, product in process, and finished product
Inspect visually for obvious defects
Compare results with quality standards
Report inspection and test results to Quality Manager
Identify defectives and segregate from acceptable product
Notify Quality Manager and Program Engineer when inspection data exceeds acceptable limits or when major incidents of poor quality are noted
Record results on inspection forms or charts and report number of defects found
Post and maintain forms and charts of inspection data, quality levels, or special quality studies as required
Makes recommendation on disposition of suspect/defective product to Quality Manager
