Job Description: Manufacturing Engineer
This position will work within the Seal Dynamics’ New Product Development Group performing various tasks associated with engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing and vendor management in the development of aircraft components. The aircraft components are being developed for the commercial airline aftermarket and they are manufactured in locations throughout the US and internationally.
This position reports to the Director of Engineering and has strong growth potential within the engineering organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
•To assure that our suppliers consistently provide quality products on time, making sure manufacturing processes and quality procedures are in place and are followed.
•Lead the team in resolving supplier manufacturing and quality related issues
•Assist and educate suppliers to understand the requirements of Seal Dynamics and the FAA
•Create and implement inspection criteria and procedures in conformance to QS9000/ISO9002 standards to include Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process
•Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities and conduct supplier audits for manufacturing processes and quality control
•Act as liaison between vendors and SD’s Quality Assurance and Engineering departments in the production and vendor inspection of parts.
•Maintain suppliers’ manufacturing process travelers once approved by SD’s Engineering and Quality Assurance
•Support New Product Development activities as needed
Requirements for Position:
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Material Sciences, Manufacturing or equivalent experience in relevant manufacturing and materials and processing experience
•A minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing processes for metallic and non metallic aerospace materials including, coatings, processes and finishes
•Detailed understanding of drawings including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances
•Proficient in the use of inspection gauges and test equipment
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
•A high attention to detail with a strong work ethic
•Must be proficient in handling multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
•Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills

QUALITY INSPECTOR

Job Description: Manufacturing Engineer
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform assigned tests on materials and parts, product in process, and finished product
Inspect visually for obvious defects
Compare results with quality standards
Report inspection and test results to Quality Manager
Identify defectives and segregate from acceptable product
Notify Quality Manager and Program Engineer when inspection data exceeds acceptable limits or when major incidents of poor quality are noted
Record results on inspection forms or charts and report number of defects found
Post and maintain forms and charts of inspection data, quality levels, or special quality studies as required
Makes recommendation on disposition of suspect/defective product to Quality Manager
Support the quality record retention requirements by assisting with filing and maintenance of Quality Records
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Two years Technical school education or 3 years of experience as an inspector
American Society for Quality Certified Mechanical Inspector a plus
Use inspection gauges and test equipment
Knowledge of CMM operation
Knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality Systems
Knowledge of calibration requirements/procedures
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T)
Blueprint Reading
Continuous Improvement Techniques
Inspection Points (e.g. receiving, in-process, final, source, first article)
Sampling (AQL levels, sampling tables)
Internal Auditing Techniques desired, but not required
Proficiency with computer based applications, Microsoft Office, and Access as a minimum
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Need the ability to communicate effectively with both employees and managers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Need the ability to comprehend and apply basic mathematics.
REASONING ABILITY:
Need the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
