    This position is responsible for planning, developing and managing the Company’s Safety and Environmental protection program.  This includes compliance with all applicable regulations of Federal, State, county and city agencies.

    Requirements
     

    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering or Physical Science
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
    • Minimum of five years’ directly related experience in a manufacturing environment required
    • Excellent computer literacy and application skills (spreadsheets, word, presentation, databases, etc.) required
    • In-depth knowledge and experience of safety and environmental regulatory affairs and regulations required
    • Knowledge of Lean concepts, use of Lean tools preferred
    • Ability to maintain current training certifications as required by OSHA, EPA and DOT

    • Inter-, intra-departmental and external contact required

    Responsibilities 
     

    • Manages the hazardous waste program (classification of waste types, collection and staging of wastes for shipment).  Plans and implements upgrades of disposal methods.
    • Visits and inspects, periodically, all hazardous waste final disposal sites used by Sypris to assess compliance with all U.S. and Florida Governmental Regulations.
    • Generates and maintain all records, reports, hazardous waste manifests, labeling requirements, etc. required by Federal and State laws.  Monitors (co-signs) all records relative to identification of accident causes, types and injury/illness incidents and investigates causes.  Makes recommendations for corrective action to be incorporated.
    • Acts as primary Emergency Coordinator and Emergency Response Team leader for incidents involving releases of hazardous materials or wastes.  Responsible for maintaining all aspects of  the Emergency Procedures and Contingency Plan.
    • Administers the water, air pollution and transportation control programs with appropriate regulatory agencies.  This includes appropriate fees, licenses, etc.
    • Conducts internal inspections regulated by OSHA, EPA and DOT of Sypris’ operations to determine if continued compliance is being maintained.  Informs management of known discrepancies and implements necessary corrective actions.  Implements new policies or procedures as required.
    • Prepares all required governmental reports and correspondence associated with Environmental and Safety issues.
    • Maintains and coordinates requirements under that Community Right-To-Know program.
    • Coordinates environmental/safety training by keeping management informed of rulings regarding training.  Promotes accident prevention awareness.  Coordinates accident prevention activities required by OSHA, EPA and the Department of Transportation.  Establishes standards for purchase and use of personal protective equipment.
    • Provides work direction to the Safety/Environmental technician.

    • Correcting sales order, manufacturing order and inventory records in the event of inventory discrepancies that prohibit processing the order as written.

    Planner Supervisor

    The following represent brief/broad descriptions. It is not intended, nor should it be construed, to represent a comprehensive and/or exhaustive description of all duties/responsibilities and requisite skills associated with the position.

    Summary
    Assist in coordinating production scheduling activities. Release work orders in proper sequence to production to meet the Master schedule. Has backup responsibilities placing purchase orders as needed. Maintain accurate dates in Dataflo system to support schedule. Maintain product lines as assigned from start to close of work orders.

    Essential Duties And Responsibilities
    •Insure material requirements are met to support the Master Schedule.
    •Responsible for review of forecast and release of production orders to the manufacturing floor, assign serial numbers upon release of WO when required.
    •Review production shortages.
    •Responsible for preparing work order packets for release to production floor in a timely manner (BOOs and Pick list as required).
    •Expedite purchasing and/or manufacturing for shortages.
    •Coordinate production plan with supervisors/group leaders.
    •Responsible for monitoring movement of materials through the manufacturing floor.
    •Responsible to monitor production issues and coordinate with the Master Scheduler for any change in the master schedule.
    •Closely review all work orders for their validity and maintain completion dates. Advise Supply Chain Manager when issues arise that move dates out.
    •Research unexpected part shortages and address root cause.
    •Responsible for insuring scrap and rejections are acted upon in a timely manner.
    •Coordinate RMA with returns and issue WO.
    •Prepares and provides reports and status of materials as needed by management.
    •The Production Planner may have additional assignments related to planning/scheduling, as deemed appropriate by the Master Production Scheduler and Supply Chain Manager.
    •Works overtime on an as-needed basis.

    Education and/or Experience
    Two to three years of product implementation experience or progressive experience on the job. Contract manufacturing experience beneficial.

    Skills & Knowledge

    •Ability to identify products and their options.
    •Knowledge of integrated computer systems (i.e., discrete manufacturing environment) and data entry.
    •MRP, ERP.
    •Understanding of Bill of Material structure.
