    Pharmaceutical Procurement & Planning Senior Manager

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
    The Pharmaceutical Procurement & Planning Senior Manager oversees the entire procurement process, including the operational aspects of efficiently purchasing all direct and indirect materials needed for our business, but also, to establish key supplier agreements and critically, to secure cost savings across most/all items purchased. Cost savings is an essential part of the role. The Pharmaceutical Procurement & Planning Senior Manager will also play an important role in establishing alternate suppliers for quality, price, and reliability purposes, and will work closely with the finance, manufacturing, quality, distribution and commercial groups to minimize costs.

    The Pharmaceutical Procurement & Planning Senior Manager also coordinates the daily, weekly and long-term production schedules to meet customer demand. Duties include reviewing commercial forecasts, actual sales rates and inventory positions to determine the optimal production schedule that assures supply on all products. The Pharmaceutical Procurement & Planning Senior Manager must adapt to various challenges, working closely with the manufacturing, quality, distribution and commercial groups to optimize supply.

    Key Procurement Responsibilities:

    • Identification of key cost-reduction opportunities across all items purchased.
    • Develop a sourcing strategy that minimizes costs and provides a reliable, high-quality supply of all items purchased.
    • Manage and implementation the procurement process across all departments and ensure efficiency, cost savings and best practices.
    • Work with the finance team throughout the procurement cycle to assist with cost forecasting.
    • Integral to vendor management in vendor selection, management and performance; develop and maintain metrics around vendor performance.
    • Perform sourcing, liaising and negotiating with new and existing suppliers to improve business.
    • Re-negotiate contracts with suppliers to produce better savings and further value for the company.
    • Review purchasing activity monthly and issue summary reports.
    • Track PO’s and notify all affected managers the moment a delay is detected; work with the external supplier to minimize/eliminate delay/impact.
    • Maintain positive working relationships with strategic suppliers to assure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met.
    • Remain current in market and delivery trends and recommend procurement technologies and processes that would benefit the company.

    Key Planning Responsibilities:

    • Review commercial forecast and compare to actual sales rates, by SKU, monthly.
    • Review inventory levels for all finished goods SKU’s daily.
    • Review inventory levels for all raw materials & components weekly.
    • Update production schedule to avoid out-of-stock situations.
    • Maintain appropriate inventory levels on all SKU’s.
    • Work with production management to confirm all raw materials and components needed for upcoming production are available.
    • Issue weekly production schedules after alignment with production management.
    • Maintain production metrics dashboard weekly.
    • Understand production capacity of each packaging line and monitor their utilization.
    • Understand the production capacity of our compounding operations and monitor their utilization.
    • Meet with production management daily/weekly to understand challenges and adapt schedule to optimize outcome.
    • Meet with Technical Services group weekly to understand future initiatives, how they will impact production, and plan around these.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific, engineering or business area.
    • 10+ years working in Procurement/Purchasing within a pharmaceutical environment.
    • At least 3 years of direct experience negotiating cost savings & agreements.
    • Professional certifications in Procurement and Planning (CPP, CPPM, others).
    • At least 3 years of production planning experience.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
    • Experience with ERP systems (pulling data, analyzing trends, etc.).
    • Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with all levels in the organization.
    • Possesses a strong team-player approach to building trust with his/her colleagues.
    • Ability to prioritize and respond timely to changing requirements, and to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.

     Position Overview

    • Verifies dimensions of machined parts, components and product using precision measuring instruments such as scales, micrometers, telescoping gauges, calipers, fixed gauges, and dial indicators, and other inspection equipment as needed.
    • Maintains cleanliness of machine and machining area. Performs regular inspection of assigned machine and completes weekly maintenance checks.
    • Reports defective or inadequate tooling and machine problems to Leadman.
    • Works in compliance with the provisions of OSHA and the company health and safety guidelines.

    The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for all dimensional inspections related to CNC Precision Machining, under the direction of the General Manager by maintaining the quality policies and procedures of the Quality Management System.

    • Performs inspection of products to ensure 1st piece, in-process, and final product quality of parts, components, and assemblies using customer blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, and other applicable sources to observe, measure, and record conformity to customer, regulatory, and company specifications.
    • Extensive knowledge and use of common inspection measurement tools, calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, gage pins, bore gages, optical comparator, CMM, Cadillac gage and height gage, among others, and ensures correct methods, tools, and criteria are used for inspection.
