Card Press Lead Operator – 3rd Shift  -No Weekends-

Sunday – Thursday 10pm – 6am. 

Omnicell is currently hiring for a Lead Card Press Operator to work at our St. Petersburg location.  The Lead Card Press Operator will report to the shift Production Supervisor. This position will provide hands-on leadership for the Card Press production lines by training operators, troubleshooting problems, and working on continuous improvement projects.  The Lead Card Press Operator will back fill the shift supervisor as required.


  • Leads and orchestrates changeovers across all presses in card production
  • Supports troubleshooting across all presses in card production
  • Leads Continuous Improvement activity for production
  • Provides back-up to the supervisor, including ADP, SAP, Packshare entries and any other duties needed.
  • Collect and Log Production Data as necessary
  • Printing of multiple color products
  • Operating continuous web converting equipment
  • Responsible for the set-up, operation, clean up, and the quality of the product produced
  • Proficiency in meeting established quality standards
  • Champion safety for card press lines
  • Any other tasks as assigned by leadership

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with unwind and rewind turrets
  • Understanding of information and requirements on job ticket for the setup and running of the job
  • Knowledge in the selection of necessary components to run a job. (print cylinders, plates, dies)
  • Skill in mixing inks and general knowledge of color theory
  • Skill in handling UV and water-based inks
  • Understanding of management/handling of anilox, print cylinders, dies, and knockouts
  • Skill in registering plates on press
  • Skill in die cutting and die registration
  • Understand and support Corporate programs such as 5S, ISO, SMED, Preventive Maintenance, Sustainability and GMP to name a few
  • Capability to follow all Safety guidelines
  • Excellent leadership and refined listening skills
  • Ability to effectively interface and communicate with multiple constituents, including management, and coworkers
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be organized/ prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to accept guidance from supervisor
  • Capable of working with limited supervision

Basic Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma/GED
  • A minimum of six years of work experience on multi-colored mechanical/servo color UV continuous web flexographic   printing equipment. 
  • 2+ years of experience leading a team  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working experience with the laminating and gluing of substrates to heavy coated and uncoated board
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team

Work Conditions:

  • Manufacturing Environment
  • Located in St. Petersburg
  • Extended or irregular work hours
  • Personal protective gear as required
  • Stand, sit, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Able to lift 60 pounds
  • Able to lift 25 pounds – 35 pounds repetitively
  • Move rolls of Plastic/Board/Foil/Liner/Label Stock – 400 pounds – 1000 pounds (rolling material on their diameter)
  • Move skids weighing up to 2,500 pounds with the use of mechanical and or powered rolling stock. (pallet jacks)
  • Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of   hazardous waste, observation of lock out – tag out rules
