Maintenance Mechanic

Job description

Responsible for the complete, thorough, and efficient activities involving the maintenance and mechanical function of both the interior and exterior facility conditions.  Assures preventative maintenance schedules and repairs are done on an on-going basis.  Troubleshoots problems and resolves them in a timely manner and maintains the facility in good working order.  Assists with general production duties as needed.

Core Responsibilities


  • Maintain general updated schedule of repair and maintenance for machinery and equipment
  • Paints the facility and components by use of brush, roller, or spray painting equipment
  • Repair or rebuild simple machine tooling
  • Diagnose problems, disassemble to determine needed repairs, proceeds with repairs
  • Troubleshoots issues pertaining to hydraulics, refrigeration, air compressors, pumps, vacuums, motors, air conditioning, and heating elements
  • Regular schedule of examination and preventive maintenance of machinery or mechanical equipment to identify reason for malfunction
  • Ensures safety features, guards and procedures are observed
  • Research needed parts or service repair vendors to determine most competitive quote
  • Enforces good housekeeping practices in immediate work area as well as common areas
  • Advise Production Executive of problems in early stages to prevent disruption of work


  • Handles basic facility construction, repair, and preventative maintenance
  • Repair walls and ceilings by plastering, brickwork, drop ceiling components, etc.
  • Repair woodwork and general carpentry work


  • Install new electric devices & connections, repairs and/or replace defective electrical devices
  • Repair and/or replace plumbing lines or fixtures and repair/replace air lines as needed
  • Install new drops and valves for copper compressed air lines


  • Work from draft prints, hand drawings or written specifications to fabricate components
  • General welding and soldering
  • Floor maintenance and repair involving painting, patching, concrete work and carpet
  • Cleanup of landscaping, exterior grounds work as needed


  • Performs installation of signage, letters, and banners as needed for customer.  
  • Presents a professional image with appropriate interface with customers at installation sites.
  • Make deliveries and pickups as needed


  • High school diploma or GED equivalency  with a minimum of 2 years specialized vocational technical training and /or 3-5 years’ experience as a manufacturing or industrial maintenance mechanic
  • Must have strong organization skills and be able to multi-task several functions at once
  • High level of mechanical and diagnostic troubleshooting ability
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance
  • Able to represent company during installations and make adjustments as necessary on site to complete the job
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug screening and criminal background check
  • Possess valid driver’s license and insurance with driving record acceptable to insurance requirements

Working conditions

  • Able to perform duties in a fast paced environment with specific deadlines
  • Able to work Monday thru Friday, 8 hour days with availability for overtime


SALARY: $18/hr.
