Colonel Trout has over 20 years’ service in the Army and Army Reserve including commands at the Platoon, Company and Battalion level. He retired from the Army Reserve and has been active in the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) for seventeen years. ESGR is organized within the offices of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs and whose mission is to gain the support of all American public and private employers for our citizen soldiers. Roger is Chair Emeritus of the Virginia ESGR committee, having served for three years as its State Chair, and is currently Vice Chair for the Florida ESGR committee. He also serves as an ombudsman for the law covering reserve service and employer relations. Roger is also an Army Reserve Ambassador reporting to the Chief, Army Reserve with the DOD Protocol Rank of a Two Star General. In this capacity he works with employers and legislators to tell the Army Reserve story.

He retired from Mobil Oil Corporation as Director of Electronic Commerce and from Sterling Commerce as Vice President Supply Chain Management. He has served on several company boards and is active in military service-related associations.
