Summary of Position:
The Senior Quality Engineer oversees all internal quality related activities for product line(s), and associated processes. He/she is responsible for leading inspection planning, and data collection management. He/she evaluates inspection/test results, data analysis, customer feedback, key process indicators, Internal Audit results, etc. to drive quality process improvements. He/she leads risk mitigation activities to identify non-conformities and/or potential non-conformities within product and/or processes to prevent an escape to customers. He/she leads root cause analysis activities to identify root causes, determine/implement effective corrective action(s), and perform read across activities to eliminate cause(s) of non-conformances.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing leadership and quality manufacturing expertise/methods to facilitate, mentor, and drive continuous improvement.
Conduct problem solving activities including, data collection, problem identification, containment activities, root cause analysis, corrective action development, implementation, verification and read across for customer returns, internal non-conformities, audit findings, and process improvements.
Develop/ maintain product inspection plans and provide training to inspectors/team to build quality awareness and increase team skills, and ensure that products and processes conform to design requirements and Aerosonic’s quality management system.
Lead new product launch activities from a quality perspective through participation in product design reviews, production readiness reviews, and prototype builds, and through the development of Mfg. Flow Charts, PFMEAs, Process Control Plans, MSA Studies , Gage R & R Studies, Qualification of Special Processes, Vendor selection/approvals, First Article Inspection Reports, and Safe Launch requirements to ensure a new product’s transition to production is accomplished successfully with the most robust manufacturing processes possible.
May participate in and/or conduct audits (both external and internal), which may include: developing an audit plan, documenting audit results, and development/acceptance/verification of corrective and preventive actions to effectively close audit findings.
Assist Quality Assurance Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system and other quality functions as needed to ensure compliance to AS9100.
Develop, update, review and/or maintain company quality and production documentation, such as quality manuals, quality control procedures, manufacturing work instruction, production routers, etc.Maintain a clean and safe work area
Performs other related duties as directed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree with 10 years’ experience in quality engineering or 20 + years manufacturing experience in a progressive Quality role.
Experience with ISO / AS9001, or equivalent quality management system.
Experience with Configuration management, and product life cycles.
High level of PC Proficiency.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
Self-starter with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated with the ability to effectively work with others in various coordinate disciplines, on cross-functional teams, and to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
Ability to lead and effectively implement quality improvement activities
Ability to mentor/develop Quality team members
Ability to work in a team environment with internal staff, suppliers and customer representatives at various levels.
Ability to lead internal teams to resolve issues related to all aspects of Quality.
Must be able to work with ITAR products and related data without restriction.
Skill Set Required:
Strong PC skills, including Adobe, MRP systems, and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Access.
10 years minimum experience in a manufacturing Quality Engineering role.
Experience with all aspects of Advanced Product Quality Planning.
Experience with AS9102 First Article Requirements.
Working knowledge of root cause analysis tools
Skill Set Preferred:
Experience in automotive and/or Aerospace manufacturing environments.
Six Sigma Green belt or higher.
Familiarity with GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2009 Standards.
Strong background in precision machining.
Former/Current FAA certified DMIR or strong knowledge of FAA airworthiness and other regulatory requirements.
Strong background with brazing and welding standards.
Physical Requirements:
